TOURNAMENT OVERVIEW
The Elite Cup · Calgary Badminton Open is an annual community tournament presented by Top Producer Realty, in collaboration with local brands and venue partners. Designed for the Calgary community, the event brings together competition, connection, family participation, and long-term event brand building.
We are committed to creating a professional, fair, and welcoming tournament environment, while supporting the continued growth of badminton across Calgary and surrounding communities. Our goal is to make this event a city open that participants and audiences alike look forward to year after year.
In addition to the group-based open tournament, the event also features a Beginner Challenge, built around a more interactive king-of-the-court format that allows players of different backgrounds and skill levels to step onto the court and enjoy the experience of competition.
Whether you come to compete for the podium or simply because you love the game, we hope this tournament becomes a place you return to each year — to participate, connect, and be part of the community.

Open Tournament & Fun Challenge Format

Group Open Tournament
The Open Tournament is organized by separate divisions, with each group competing according to its assigned bracket. This structure helps maintain fairness and order, while also giving participants of different ages and skill levels the opportunity to compete in the division that best fits them. By combining competitiveness, spectator appeal, and participation, the event provides players with a clear and well-structured tournament platform, while also offering the audience a more engaging and dynamic match experience.
- Clear divisions and well-structured scheduling
- Independent competition within each group for greater fairness
- Balances competitive quality with spectator appeal

Beginner Challenge Format
The Beginner Challenge is built around the idea that everyone should have a chance to get on the court. There are no restrictions based on experience or skill level, and participants of different ages, genders, and playing backgrounds are all welcome to join. The format is fast-paced and highly engaging. With one registration, players may have the chance to play up to three consecutive matches. Winners can stay on the court to defend their position or take on new challengers, while earning on-the-spot prize money or the challenger’s entry fee. Compared with a traditional tournament format, this challenge places greater emphasis on interaction, continuity, and live atmosphere, allowing more people to truly take part in the competition.
- Open to the public with a more accessible entry threshold
- One registration with the chance to play up to three consecutive matches
- Winners can stay on to defend the court and earn on-the-spot prizes
