Top Producer Cup Rules
The Official Divisions and the Beginner Challenge are parallel tracks with different goals, different match flow, and different rules.

Important: These two tracks are parallel, not a step-by-step sequence. If you are joining the official tournament, read the Official Divisions section. If you are joining the fun challenge area, read the Beginner Challenge section.

Official Divisions Rules
This section covers the formal group-stage competition track, including round-robin, elimination, adult competition logic, and adult doubles handicap rules.
Official Division Example:
If 12 adult doubles teams register, the organizer may place them into 4 groups of 3 teams. Each group plays round-robin first. The top 2 teams from each group advance. After that, the event may use double-elimination for more play or single-elimination if time becomes tight.
Group-Stage Tournament Structure
01
-
The Official Divisions use a group-stage tournament format.
-
The overall logic is round-robin first, elimination second.
-
Players or teams are first placed into groups and compete inside their own group.
-
After group play ends, qualified entries move into the elimination stage.
Elimination Rules
03
Option A: Double-Elimination
-
Best for smaller registration volume when players should receive more match opportunities.
-
Each group winner faces a second-place entry from another group in the first elimination round.
-
Pairings are decided by random draw.
-
First-round losers move into the losers' bracket.
-
An entry is only fully eliminated after two losses.
-
If the number of entries is odd, a bye is drawn and that entry advances automatically.
-
The final is played between the winners' bracket winner and the last surviving entry from the losers' bracket.
Adult Competition Rules
04
-
Adult competition stays inside the same official track: round-robin first, elimination second.
-
Adult doubles are grouped by combined team age, not by gender first.
-
The two adult doubles divisions are 90- and 90+.
-
Because men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles may meet in the same competition flow, adult doubles use a separate handicap rule.
Round-Robin Rules
02
-
Players or teams are drawn into 4 to 8 groups, with 3 to 4 entries per group where possible.
-
Each group uses a round-robin format, so every entry plays the others in the same group.
-
Matches use a 21-point format, best of three games.
-
If the event applies an extended deuce rule after 20-all, the exact version used on tournament day follows the official on-site announcement.
-
The top 2 entries from each group advance to elimination.
Elimination Rules
03
Option B: Single-Elimination
-
Best for larger registration volume when the organizer needs tighter time control.
-
Each group winner faces a second-place entry from another group in the first elimination round.
-
Pairings are decided by random draw.
-
Matches continue with the same 21-point, best-of-three structure.
-
Losers are eliminated immediately.
-
If the number of entries is odd, a bye is drawn and that entry advances automatically.
-
The bracket continues until the champion and runner-up are decided.
Adult Doubles Handicap Rules
05
-
Men's doubles vs Women's doubles: men's doubles gives 6 points. The game starts at 0:6. Women's doubles serves first. Men's doubles chooses court side.
-
Men's doubles vs Mixed doubles: men's doubles gives 3 points. The game starts at 0:3. Mixed doubles serves first. Men's doubles chooses court side.
-
Mixed doubles vs Women's doubles: mixed doubles gives 3 points. The game starts at 0:3. Women's doubles serves first. Mixed doubles chooses court side.
-
Same team type vs same team type: the game starts at 0:0, and shuttle toss decides court side and first serve.

Beginner Challenge Rules
This is a separate fun participation track. It is not part of the official group-stage tournament and should be read as its own parallel rule set.
Entry and Match Fee
01
-
Entry fee: $10 CAD per person, paid once for the day.
-
Before each match, each player pays $5 CAD to the referee as the match prize pool.
-
After the match, the winner receives the full amount paid by both players.
-
The organizer does not keep any of the match prize money.
Who This Track Is For
03
-
This track is for beginners, casual players, and people who want a lighter participation experience.
-
Professional players, including players with provincial or municipal competition history, are not allowed in the Beginner Challenge.
Match Format
02
-
Each match is one game to 21 points.
-
After a win, the winner may stay on court for the next challenge or leave the court.
-
If a player wins 3 matches in a row, they must leave the court.
-
If that player wants to keep playing later, they rejoin from the end of the queue.
-
Playing order follows the on-site registration queue.
Friendly Zone Notice
04
Friendly zone notice: This area is meant for fun, participation, and community interaction. Please avoid arguments. Players looking for a full strength-based competition experience should enter the official event.
Beginner Challenge Example:
Player A and Player B both pay $5 before their match. They play one game to 21. If Player A wins, Player A receives the full $10 for that match. If Player A then keeps winning and reaches three straight wins, Player A must leave the court and can only continue later by rejoining from the back of the queue.
